NationsBenefits®, LLC., a leading supplemental benefits company, announced today the release of several new innovative solutions designed to help health plan members with their hearing loss. The company has developed digital technologies that allow access to hearing tests and related care from any location, including their homes, local community, and mobile devices when on the go.

Part of our growth strategy is to lead the charge with creative and technological solutions for consumers, health plans, partners, and providers”

Michael Parker, Chief Operating Officer at NationsBenefits

These technology-based solutions not only help to assess and treat hearing loss, but they also lessen the impact of related health comorbidities. Hearing loss has been shown to negatively impact nearly every aspect of everyday life, including physical, emotional, and mental health as well as social skills, family relationships, and self-esteem. Untreated hearing loss has been linked to personal safety issues, such as an increased risk of falling, while further studies suggest an association between hearing loss and cognitive decline. The relationship between the two includes risk of memory loss, depression, and diminished mental health.

NationsBenefits is introducing the following digital services to allow greater access to hearing assistive technologies for eligible health plan members with a hearing benefit through NationsHearing®:

  • An end-to-end digital hearing experience that allows plan members to access their hearing benefit using a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet connection. Members can log into a secure online portal where they can take a clinically validated hearing test and receive accurate results in minutes. Additionally, if hearing loss is detected, members can use their benefit allowance towards the purchase of state-of-the-art hearing aids with shipping at no additional cost. The platform includes telehealth services, allowing members to connect with an online hearing representative for support and remote tuning for any necessary adjustments.
  • The new digital hearing centers are free-standing units that feature the company’s proprietary testing application on touch-screen monitors, allowing members to participate in features of the digital hearing experience, such as taking a digital hearing test, receiving accurate results, and connecting with an online hearing representative. These multi-location, hearing assessment and service stations can be placed in high traffic areas, such as retail locations and health plan wellness/information centers, and are customizable with branding or cobranding for participating plans.
  • NationsBenefits has also created Hearing Hunt, a first-of-its-kind word search game app, specifically designed to sharpen clarity of hearing while creating a unique auditory experience for those with hearing impairment. The game centers around a multi-themed display with sound clues that require the user to listen and find hidden words while earning rewards. Along the way, users will be presented with related hearing tips and information. Users can also pair with any Bluetooth® enabled hearing aids. The app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.

“Part of our growth strategy is to lead the charge with creative and technological solutions for consumers, health plans, partners, and providers,” said Michael Parker, COO of NationsBenefits. “It is crucial that we continue to evolve by being agile and seeking new ways to meet the needs of all our constituents in today’s changing environment while also remaining laser-focused on delivering proper care when it’s needed the most.”

In addition to offering digital services, NationsBenefits also has strategic partnerships with over 8,000 providers nationwide and continues to work with health plan members to schedule hearing care appointments. Because they have relationships with all major hearing aid manufacturers, NationsBenefits can offer the latest and most advanced technologies at affordable prices for more than 1,200 makes and models, saving members thousands of dollars on a set of hearing aids compared to retail prices.

NationsBenefits is committed to maximizing the quality of care and health outcomes for more than 10 million members in the U.S., and going above and beyond expectations to ensure they receive the best customer experience.
